Besides the Bible book named after him, little is known about Job. The many geographical references in the book and details about nomadic life, suggest that Job really existed and that the book is not a myth.
Based on those details there are different interpretations as to who Job was. The names of Job’s friends and the enemies who robbed his possessions point to the period after Abraham. The two most common opinions are that Job was a descendant of Ishmael or Esau.
