Mecca Desert Turns Green

Recent films show various images of green mountains and valleys near Mecca.
They give a foretaste of what is yet to come. Already some 2700 years ago, the Israelite prophet Isaiah foretold a transformation of the desert into lush green pastures. The films show the effect of several weeks of intense rainfall, which will disappear again under the burning sun. Actually, through good land and water management a permanent transformation may take place.

Isaiah prophesied that the desert would turn green when God pours out His Spirit. That will lead to both a physical and spiritual change. There will be righteousness and peace in the desert (Isaiah 32:15-17). When the desert dwellers accept the Messiah as their Lord and Savior, they will be changed. They will take good care of nature and seek to stop erosion through overgrazing.  They will also use their wealth better to bless those who have less.

With that, the fulfillment of another prophecy comes into sight. According to Isaiah  60:6-7, the descendants of Ishmael and other nations on the Arabian Peninsula will worship God and serve Him with their riches in Jerusalem. This will have far-reaching consequences. When many Arabs follow the Messiah and decide to be friendly to the Jews, they will become jealous of them (Romans 10:19). This will result in the Jews finding salvation in the Messiah as well (Romans 11:25-26)

According to Islamic sources, Muhammad said, “The Last Hour will not come before wealth becomes abundant and overflowing, … and till the land of Arabia reverts to meadows and rivers” (Sahih Muslim, Book 12, Hadith 76). It looks like he was familiar with these prophecies of Isaiah.
